Recording of our Spoken Word CD
In the fall of 2002, the Six Nations Writers began coordination of Onkwawennahson'a "Our Voices."  Some of us started to write our submissions while some of us selected one of our previous writings for inclusion on the CD.

We partnered with the Chiefswood National Historic Site on this project and includes two of E. Pauline Johnson's works.

Seventeen writers have collaborated on this project and we worked to produce a CD of original works that we hope you will enjoy.  Our youngest participant is only three months old.  Onkwawennahson'a "Our Voices" includes poetry, prose, narration, songs and short stories.  There is something for everyone's literary palette.

On Sunday, January 19th, the participants of Onkwawennahson'a "Our Voices" gathered in the village of Ohsweken, the heart of our community, to attend a vocal workshop with vocalist, ElizaBeth Hill.  We learned voice technique and voice exercises that assisted us when it came time to record our works.

We held a formal "voice rehearsal" run through of the selections the next week and did a mobile recording of all the readings.  We practiced, practiced, practiced.

We began recording at Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton under the direction of Mr. Bob Doidge on Monday, January 27th. Our CD Onkwawennahson'a "Our Voices" was officially launched March 15th, 2003 at the Six Nations Tourism.

Please take a look at our photo gallery below.  The writers had a lot of fun participating in this project and hope you will enjoy listening to Onkwawennahson'a "Our Voices".
